Were the 2011 Oscars a success?

I'm 22, so I loved James Franco and thought he was funny all the way through. Not so big on Anne Hathaway. I also liked some of the presenters (Robert Downey Jr talking about being caught with girl in hotel room) and recipients. I'd be interested to hear the perspectives of the "older" demographic... Was this show appealing?
